Kathmandu: Nepal finished as the first runner-up in the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup after losing to India in the final match held today in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

India successfully chased Nepal’s target of 115 runs in just 12 overs, scoring 117 runs for the loss of three wickets. Nepal had posted 114 runs in their allotted 20 overs after being invited to bat first.

India’s Phula Soren was the standout performer with 44 runs off 27 balls, while Nepal’s Sarita Ghimire contributed 35 runs off 38 balls for her side.

A special plastic white ball with bearings inside is used in blind cricket, enabling batters to track its movement through sound.

Teams from Nepal, India, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the United States participated in the tournament. As in standard cricket, each team fields 11 players, but blind cricket rules require that at least four players be completely blind.
